Our use of collected data
We offer several services that do not require the opening of an account or the provision of personal information, such as X3M Search. In order to provide our full range of services, we may collect the following types of information: Information You Provide: When you register for an X3M account or any other X3M service or offering that requires registration, we will ask you to provide personal information (such as your name, email address and an account password). For certain services, such as our advertising programs, we also ask for credit card or other payment information. We store this information in an encrypted form on secure servers. We may combine the information you provide with information from other X3M services or third parties in order to serve you better and improve the quality of our services. For certain services, you have the option to indicate that you do not wish this information to be combined.
When you access X3M services, our servers automatically record information that your browser sends when you visit a website. These server files may contain information such as your web request, IP address, browser type, browser language, the date and time of your request, and one or more cookies that may recognize your browser.
Communication with Users
When you send emails or other messages to X3M, we may retain those messages to process your requests, respond to your requests and improve our services.
X3M Affiliated Services on Other Sites
X3M offers services according to location. When you use these services, X3M may receive information about your actual location (such as GPS signals from a mobile device) or information that can be used to estimate a location (such as a phone ID).
X3M may display links in a format that allows us to see if those links have been followed. We use this information to improve the quality of our search technology, personalized content and advertising.
X3M processes personal information on its servers in the United States and other countries. In some cases, we process personal data on a server that is not located in your country. We may process personal data in order to provide our own services. In some cases, we may process personal data on behalf of or at the direction of third parties, such as our advertising partners.
Choice for personal data
We may share portions of the non-personal information we collect with third parties, such as the number of users who searched for a particular keyword or the number of users who clicked on a particular ad. You cannot be identified from this data. If you have any further questions regarding the management or use of personal data, please contact us at the address below.
We take appropriate security measures to protect against unauthorized access to data or unauthorized alteration, disclosure or destruction of data. This includes internal controls over our policies and security measures relating to data collection, storage and processing, as well as physical security measures to protect against unauthorized access to the systems on which we maintain personal information.
We limit access to personal information to X3M employees, contractors and agents who need it to manage, develop or improve our services. These individuals are bound by confidentiality obligations and may be subject to disciplinary action, including termination and prosecution, if they fail to comply with these obligations.
Access and update of personal information
When you use the X3M services, we make a good faith effort to provide you with access to your personal information and to correct it if it is inaccurate, or to delete it at your request if retention of such information is not otherwise required by applicable law or for legitimate business purposes. We ask individual users to identify themselves and indicate the requested data that needs to be accessed, corrected or deleted before such requests are processed, and we may refuse to process requests that are unreasonably repetitive or systematic, involve excessive technical effort, compromise the privacy of others, or are impractical in practical terms (for example, requests relating to data stored on backup tapes), or for which access is not normally required. In all cases where we allow access and correction of data, we perform this service free of charge, unless the performance of this service requires excessive effort. Some of our services have different procedures for accessing, correcting or deleting users’ personal information. We provide details about these procedures in privacy notices or frequently asked questions specific to those services.
